Student Commitment

Preparation

All students are expected to read the assigned material before class and come to class prepared to foster participation in the discussion, ask questions, and/or add insight into the topic presented.

Presentation

Each student will sign up for at least one presentation on material from one of the current year’s books.

  • The presenter will follow the recommended Guidelines for Presentations and can, but is not required to, use any instrument to illustrate and further explore doctrine, new concepts, teachings, and other aspects of the material that best resonated with them.
  • Mentors will be assigned to each book or reading and will be available to work with students.
  • The presenting student will contact the assigned mentor to establish communication. At their discretion, mentors can initiate communication with the student.
  • Students are required to meet with the assigned mentor at least one time before the presentation for preparation and one time after to exchange feedback, using the Self-reflection Rubric.
  • The presenter is required to contact the assigned mentor regardless of their level of need for mentoring.
  • Students will be required to take a quiz for every book after the last presentation of each. There will be a total of 6 quizzes for the First Year Class.
  • Students will be expected to engage in active participation in the Virtual Classroom using CANVAS Learning Management System.
  • Additional registration and method information will be provided.
